"THE COLORISM COLLECTION"

“Colorism” marked an early defining moment for CHOKOLETD — a fearless exploration of beauty, bias, and identity through fashion. The collection dissected how skin tone shapes perception, using contrast and texture to challenge society’s hierarchy of color.

Through sculptural silhouettes and raw material pairings, designer Destiny Walden transformed pain into power, creating a dialogue between light and dark, visibility and erasure. “Colorism” wasn’t made to please — it was made to provoke, uplift, and remind us that looks are deceiving.

More than a collection, it became a statement — a visual revolution that laid the foundation for CHOKOLETD’s ongoing narrative of truth, resilience, and reclamation.

VDAY 2024

In 2019, Chokoletd introduced Colorism, a collection inspired by the urgent need to confront and dismantle the biases tied to skin tone — both within and beyond our communities.

Colorism was created to celebrate the full spectrum of melanin and to challenge the idea that beauty or worth can be measured by color. Each design in the collection reflected unity, pride, and resistance — turning fashion into a statement of equality.

Through bold expression and intentional design, Chokoletd’s Colorism reminded the world: we are not our shade — we are our story.
